Welcome
to the SuperKäfer
The Super Beetle was Volkswagens' 'biggest' Beetle. First introduced
in 1971, it had the largest engine to be installed on a Beetle from
the factory, and an incredible 85% increase in boot space over the
standard Beetle. Another big change was the use of the MacPherson
strut front suspension, replacing the torsion bar system that VW had
used since the start of Beetle production (and is still using in Beetles
produced in Mexico). The Super Beetle was updated in 1973 with the
1303, and production ended in 1975 (with convertible Super Beetles
still being made at Karmann until 1980).
The SuperKäfer is dedicated to specifications, information and
history of the VW 1302 and 1303 'Super Beetles'. Hope you enjoy your
visit!
